Important reminders
Reading
Monster Phonics Reading books and diaries should be brought into school every day.
Reading books will only be changed when your child reads their book 3x at home. Please remember to sign the reading diary each time your child reads.
Please encourage your child to read books for pleasure! Bedtime stories are best and can develop your child's vocabulary and language as well as help to develop their love for reading!

Please remember to tie long hair up.
Black plimsolls to be kept in school with names in for indoor PE sessions.
Autumn 1
Art
Y1 learned about the Artist Pablo Picasso and created art in cubism style. We created a piece of art work based on our science topic 'animals'. We thought about shape, colour and shading when we designed our final piece and we created some fantastic art work. We finished off by outlining in black pen to make it stand out.

Walk to Backhouse Park
We visited Backhouse Park to look for signs of Autumn. We found lots of leaves on the ground and we even found some conkers! The children enjoyed playing in the leaves and exploring the park.

St Aidan's Church
Y1 had a lovely visit to St Aidan's Church as part of their RE learning. The children learned about baptisms and Father David showed us what happens when someone is baptised. The children were assigned roles to learn who would be at the baptism such as godparents and parents. We were told the story of Jesus being baptised which helped the children understand why Christians want to be baptised.
