Little Butterflies Nursery
Little Butterflies Nursery began their journey in September 2018. We had 7 lovely children and 2 key workers - Charlotte and Rachael. Since then, we are proud to say our Nursery has grown in size and popularity, and our once small team has doubled in size - we welcomed Vicky and Lindsay in September 2019 along with 21 new children!
At Little Butterflies Nursery we aim to provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment for our children. We believe that by providing support, praise and encouragement, our children will be able to flourish and reach their full potential.
To ensure the best possible start for our children we follow a play based approach to learning in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. By closely observing the interests of our children, our practitioners are able to create a fun, stimulating and meaningful learning environment that sparks curiosity and encourages independence.

VISITS AND SETTLING IN SESSIONS
Before starting nursery we ask that families come to visit us with their child for a short stay and play session. This is so that your child becomes familiar with their new classroom and gets to meet their key worker.
it is important to us that you and your child feel comfortable with us before starting Nursery officially. To ensure a happy and smooth transition into nursery we offer FREE settling in sessions for all children before officially.
To arrange a visit please contact our school office on 0191 814 9820 or you can email us on littlebutterflies@grangetown.sunderland.sch.uk

Snow Day! (10.2.21)
Today the children had so much fun exploring and playing in the snow. We got all wrapped up warm to enjoy some sledging in our garden. The children also enjoyed making snow balls and throwing them at the staff! We don't normally get much snow so the children were super excited.
Topic - Animal Madness!
This term we have been animal mad with our new topic 'Animal Madness'. We have been exploring lots of zoo and jungle themed animals. Our first core story which we focused on was 'Polar bear, polar bear' the children are currently enjoying 'Dear zoo'. We turned our classroom into an animal haven with lots of different animal themed activities and areas. Within our math's area the children have enjoyed playing our jungle matching game. The children have also enjoyed getting messy in the creative area with the animal stamping activity. We also have some jungle themed animal masks which the children have loved using to pretend being jungle animals. We also have a veterinary surgery set up in our role play area. The children have shown an interest in looking after and caring for all of our poorly animals.
