1. Attendance for week ending Friday 25 November

Champion Attenders Award ('Spike') winners this week: 4H. Well Done!

Average attendance so far this academic year (since 6 Sep 2011): 94.4%

Remember

· 100% attendance in a week enters your child into a Prize Draw!

· The class with the best attendance each week wins the Spike Award.

· 98%, 99%, 100% attendance for a full term automatically earns a certificate (Bronze, Silver, Gold). Please keep in touch!

If your child is absent, please immediately inform the school by telephone. This ensures that the absence will not be ‘unauthorised’. Thank you.

Good attendance is vital for your child’s learning!

 

2. What's On this week: Mon 16 Jan - Fri 20 Jan

Every Day of the week:

· Could all parents please make sure your child brings PE kit to school, on the correct days. Thankyou.

· Could all parents please make sure your child wears school uniform every day. Please make sure uniform has your child’s name on. Thankyou.

· Homework - please make sure it is in on time! Thanks!

· Breakfast Club - 8.00 to 8.50 (£1.20 per day).

· No jewellery, chewing gum, sweets or mobile phones allowed in school. Thankyou for your support with this.

· Mon-Friday ICT lunchtime club 12.30-1.00.

Monday 16 January

· Breakfast Club from 8.00am

· Lunchtime: ICT Club

· PE: yr 1

· Little Dribblers Family Learning Session 1

Tuesday 17 January

· Breakfast Club from 8.00am

·Morning break - toast KS1 & KS2 (10p per slice)

· Violin & Cello tuition

· Fire Safety visit years 1 and 5

· PE: Reception

· SAFC 'Tackle It' session for year 5

· After School Clubs: ICT, Messy Play, Cross Stitch, Gymnastics (all £1)

Wednesday 18 January

· 8.00-8.50 Breakfast Club

· Discovery Zoo - Year 1

· Year 3 to visit Cafe Spice

· Year 4 Swimming Taster session

· PE: Years 2, 5

·Swimming - year 5 (Raich Carter)

· Lunchtime: ICT Club

· After Sch Clubs: Keep Fit, Just Dance, Lets Get Cooking, Boys Football, Film Club, Design Club (all £1)

Thursday 19 January

· Breakfast Club from 8.00am

·Morning break - toast KS1 & KS2 (10p per slice)

· Swimming session at Southmoor year 6

3. News, Messages, Reminders!

After School Clubs
After School Clubs commence this week.  All children received a confirmation letter this week.  Girls football club will start in 2 weeks. We will confirm this by letter in advance.

Little Dribblers
SAFC are running a 5 week family learning course called Little Dribblers.  We currently have 8 families signed up.  If you would like to take part in this session please see Miss Booth ASAP.  Little Dribblers runs Monday 3-4pm for Foundation Stage children.

Fire Safety
A firefighter from Tyne and Wear Fire Brigade will visit on Tuesday 17th January to talk to the Year 1 and Year 5 children about Fire Safety.

Discovery Zoo
The Year 1 children will be having a visit from the Discovery Zoo on Wednesday 18th  January.  They will be bringing a selection of pets and exotic animals to show the children.

Café Spice
On Wednesday 18th January the Year 3 children will be visiting Café Spice as part of our India topic. The children will have the opportunity to taste some Indian food.

Year 4  & 6 Swimming
Childen in Years 4 and 6 will be having a swimming taster session at Southmoor School this week. The Year 4 children are going on the afternoon of Wednesday 18th January and the Year 6 children will be going on Thursday 19th January at 2pm.  The session will last half an hour and is led by a trained instructor.

Parking
Can parents please remember to park in the two open areas at the bottom of  Spelterworks Road.  Anyone who parks directly outside of school may cause a  dangerous hazard.

 

4. This week's Achievers Assembly

In today’s Achievers’ Assembly we:

·Gave out the Achievers’ Certificates for this week (2 per class)

·Said ‘well done’ to all pupils for a superb week!

·Thanked our brilliant, multi-talented teachers and support staff for their hard work this week.
