In Summer 2010 our parents and children
chose a new colour for our uniform - royal blue. We said
then that we would be re-designing the school badge. We've
done it!
We wanted a school badge that symbolised the aspirational,
ambitious, 'can-do' attitude of everyone involved in
Grangetown. Our children agreed that 'Reach for the Stars'
summed up our approach, so we decided that the new logo
should visually portray the 'reach for the stars' kind of
attitude.
We also wanted the new badge to feature our new mission
statement strapline: Enjoy - Respect - Achieve (the 'ERA'
stands for 'New Era'!).
We invited our children to submit designs for the new badge.
They did a super job - their designs demonstrated the very
high aspirations we have for the school. Then, one of our
parents helped us - her background in fashion design gave us
some great ideas. Finally, we got a Sunderland-based graphic
design company involved in the project. All of those ideas -
from the children, from our parent helper, and from the
company, were put together - then magic dust was sprinkled
over them (we got it from our Early Years teachers, of
course), and, hey presto, our new badge was born, fresh,
sparkling and brand-new!
We are all very pleased and proud with the final
version. We hope you love it too! |
