Our School Council
decided to look at the possibility of changing the colour of
our uniform. They had discussions with their classmates, and found
out that the current colour - grey - isn't very popular.
At our recent 'parent consultation event' the subject
of uniform came up - the parents at that meeting liked the
idea of a new colour.
The current front runners are royal
blue and red.
So, soon, we will carry out a survey to find out the
opinions and views of all parents and carers. As well as
asking them what colour they'd prefer, the survey asks them
for their ideas about other aspects of uniform - for example
whether they'd like white polo shirts, and whether they'd
like to get their uniforms from the local supermarket.
Update - July 2010. BLUE IS THE
COLOUR!
From 75 votes cast by parents & carers, 43 voted for royal
blue and 32 for red. So, we have adopted royal blue as our
official colour. Asda agreed to supply a bulk order to
launch the new colour, and we also offered every child a
free sweatshirt. 2010-11 will be a 'transition' year, when
the current grey tops will also be an accepted part of the
uniform - we are doing this because we do not want to cause
anyone to have to throw-out any items of uniform. The
current badge is fine for now, but it is likely that next
year we will run a design competition so that the children
can help to design a new badge. Then, we will find an
affordable way of having the new design embroidered
professionally onto sweatshirts, jumpers, cardigans and polo
shirts. PE T-shirts in house colours (with the current
badge) are available at a bargain £2.00 instead of the usual
£3.50 - these are well worth purchasing as they are good
quality and will easily give a year's worth of wear.
